Scale Modeling-Kitbashing-SciFi

birdofevilfrtqtrbopAt last nights IPMS-Steve Wittman meeting, Bruce Williams shared with us his kitbashed creation of his take on a Klingon Bird of Prey. Using several kits from various categories, Bruce created this masterpiece. It is part submarine, jet fighter, scifi, armor as well as few decals from the spares box. Kitbashing is one way a modeler can be artistic as well as create something unique and interesting to throw the “experts” off their game.

A few years back…well maybe more than a few, I think it was about the time of the release of the movie Predator II I came up with my own SciFi creation. Which by the way won an award at one of the NIMO (Northern Illinois Modelers Open) events in Chicago…if that tells you how long ago it was.

P1390597eMy little Space Marines light attack ship was kitbashed from my spares stash, including the fuselage of an OV-10, a Hind helicopter, Cessna, C-47, B-36 and an assortment of other pieces parts. After seeing Bruce’s latest creation, I think it is time to dig into the spares to see if I can revive any of the other projects like this I started long ago. If not, maybe come up with something new…my spares stash has continued to grow since then.

P1390598eThis could be a possible theme and parameter for our spring contest…might have to give this some thought and talk it over with the sponsors.
