How To Skin A Raptor-Paint Testing Update

By Gerald Voigt

f22invertThis build is still very much in progress, but these images might help illustrate the goal of this project…to develop a product to recreate with scale effect the sheen of the F-22’s paint.

I have an independent and respected review builder supplied with a tester sample of this new product. Shortly I hope to have not only feedback from him but another F-22 Raptor built up in its true paint scheme, painted with my “Raptor Sheen” to showcase the product. I’ve got two more field testing samples ready, contact me if you’re interested and ready to paint your F-22 or F-35 project.  This is an enamel based product, an acrylic version is under consideration.

I would like some of the F-22 paint. Let me know when I can get it? Thanks!

It would be great if you guys could bring some of this stuff with you to the IPMS Nationals this month. I’m excited about buying and using this product on my own Raptor model.

    Cheers,

Right now it is a rush to see if we can get a model finished with it to display at the Nats…production should begin just after the Nats…That is if the feedback from the reviewers is positive.

    Gerald,

If you can pull this off, you will be THE man….and will probably be able to sell a lot of it.
I can’t wait to see if it turns out well.

Hopefully you can have some on a model at Nats like you hope.

I don’t see the sheen to be honest. I was hoping for the metallic ‘teflon’ colors and this looks nothing like it.

  6. Gerald Voigt says:

Hard to see the sheen in pictures, metallic finishes are hard to photograph. Be patient and wait to read the reviews from others who have tried it. The Mark I eyeball is the best at judging anything.

Only time and customer satisfaction will determine that. Thanks for the encouragement!
