My plastic scale model of a Do 335 which I have dubbed “Bare Arrow” is a unique What-If done in a simple Natural Metal Finish with minimal markings. This will definitely stand out on an exhibit table at a show. I can hear the comments already from das German aircraft experten!
Maybe one of these days I will write a fictional story about how this airframe came into being an Air Force test and eval ship.
Since my last installment I added a few finishing touches. She’s now ready for a spot in one of my display cases. Though she might make it to a couple of club meetings and maybe a local contest or two, she’s done. I essentially used one color, aluminum. A few of the darker panels were given a either an application of another color from my line or aluminum tinted with a couple drops of Testor’s enamels. Again the Orange was my Fluorescent Red-Orange mixed with a some Testor’s Insignia Yellow to ease the boldness to a redish color more applicable the period of the late 1940′s. No real plan or scheme was followed, just start spraying and let it develop as I went along.
It was fun project and I recommend the Tamiya kit even for a novice builder. It is well engineered and had only one fit issue. That being the belly on the front and back of the weapons bay.

Grand job Gerald!

Thanks Paddy!
Gerald, this one came out great! Very nice work on the double sets of exhaust stains.

Makes me wonder if the forward engine had any affect on the performance of the aft one with the intake being so close to the exhaust flow of the front one.
Gerald, I seem to remember that doing a fly by in 1946 when I was in the forces and the pilot waved to me I am sure………..
Looks pretty good to me mate
