This picture was taken by friend and fellow modeler Zachary Baughman. This C-47 is on display in front of EAA’s AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He captured the moment perfectly! In my mind I can picture the paratroopers gearing up in preparation to load onboard before their flight across the English Channel just before D-Day. Thanks for sharing this with us Zack!

Beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing.
Great Pic! I would like to get a copy. Would be willing to pay for digital upload that could be enlarge safety around 11 x 14 or so.
Wow!!! Beautiful and eerie.
Gerald, that pic is magnificent and it does evoke the image of a foggy morning near the Channel….
It’s a beautiful picture. I’ll someday try to reproduce it with watercolors, the airbrush, or combining both!
I would also like a copy……..
Leaves on the trees would be closer to a summer setting, but your excellent picture’s bare branches make it a much more interesting picture. BRAVO!
Hello All,
Thanks for all of the kind words – I was the fellow that took the picture. It was just lucky timing and circumstances with the thick fog and the sun coming up. A case of the right place at the right time! I am not opposed to selling some prints of the photo, but I’d rather not make it available as a digital download at this time. If you are serious about purchasing a print, please contact me directly at zbaughman@eaa.org and we can discuss it further.
Regards,
Zack Baughman
