My love of finding critters started as a wee lad exploring the environment around me. Bugs, frogs, turtles and other animals were always fun to watch and catch. Probably why I found Zoology so interesting in school.

Even today I am always looking for crayfish in a stream while out exploring. Watching the spider that calls our front porch home as it lives through its cycle of life. Studying the moons surface and reflecting on the day when we watch the first moon landing.

Yes there are many educational hobbies that required an adult to get a child started, but the time invested pays significant dividends later in life when they go on to higher education and vocation. My photography hobby is now paying off, my grand kids love seeing the new images of birds and critters I've taken. This summer will be fun as we explore our backyards together! This hobby is also quickly becoming another vocation for me too...did you like the banner images?

Most hobbies are educational.
And most hobbies need the participation of an adult to begin, or at least a child of an age resonable for the hobby.
