Regardless of your interest in modeling there is probably a forum to suit your modeling interests. However, it may not be easily understood because it is hosted by someone in a different country that does use the same language as you do.

I have a hard time understand French, Czech, German and Russian but in many cases if the poster uses good illustrations I get the gist of what is being discussed. If not, it is still enjoyable to see what others are building.

Each forum has its own “flavor” or niche of individuals that give the site its unique personality. Some are laid back, others are more serious, some even jovial and there are some that are confrontational.

It may be the fact that winter played a role on an individual’s mood, the economical impact on their household, or job situation at the time he/she made the post, but some forums I frequent have gotten edgy. Politics and religion are contentious points at any gathering as it is so in/on modeling forums. Some threads seem to rapidly disparage off onto such topics which are not relevant to the original topic.

At this point the tempers begin to flare. Individuals soon get tossed under the bus for their beliefs, position and feelings about a topic that is far off the initial subject completely. It’s time for the moderators to keep their modeling forums just that…for the discussion of modeling related issues.

There are other forums specifically geared towards politics, religion, sexual orientation, health care…the list is as endless as there are topics. I am but one voice, but there are those who see it in the same light as I do. Keep your site unique with its own personality, but keep it on topic…don’t loose control, you are the master of your domain. If you have to admonish someone, do so. It is for the greater good and continued success of the forum.
